The hotel is currently under external renovation. To be honest, it did not bother us and this is not the reason for my poor review. The renovations are from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday so if you are out and about, it will be fine. Check in: The check in is now a desk near to the front entry. It does not look like a check in, I thought it was a co-working space. What added to my confusion was a big advert for gin and tonics so I was confused that it was a reception. Check in was swift, no worries there. Room: We booked a family room. The room is tiny, we could not all move around at the same time so had to sit on the bed while my husband and kids moved around. I would say that it is suitable as a family room with children under the age of 6 years old. It was quite unnerving that while we were getting settled in the house keeping charged into the room (with no warning knock) and asked if we were checking out. It was confusing to explain that we were actually checking in! The bathroom is a disgrace. The shower leaks every time because it is so old the seal has gone and clearly it is not a priority for the hotel to fix it, otherwise they would. We went through a mountain of towels each day to keep the bathroom dry. So much for your sustainability initiatives Accor! One morning when walking to the door, an entire decorative panel fell off the wall. No-one was harmed, but that is the level of maintenance that is required. We asked for a lightbulb to be replaced a few times, but it was not replaced for our entire three night stay. There is nowhere to unpack clothes (except for the 3-4 hangers in the wardrobe) so we literally lived out of our suitcases for the four days. Restaurant: This is truly the worst part of the hotel. Truly horrific. We tried to have drinks and snacks one evening and each time we ordered we waited over half an hour for anything to arrive. The place was not busy, if you exclude the person that was vacuuming around us (at 8pm at night) there was nobody there so no idea why it was so hard to provide drinks and snacks. The breakfast is an absolute rip off and is not that great anyway. There are so many lovely places to eat close by that cost less and have nice food. We did not have breakfast in our rate so the reception / front desk told me to just go along and pay at the restaurant. We were greeted and seated in no time, but I literally had the staff member haggling me to pay while I was trying to serve up food for my children. Either ask for money upfront or allow us to pay once we have eaten! I don't appreciate being treated like a criminal. All in all, I don't think that our stay was value for money I am afraid to say. The location is great so it is a shame that the hotel has not been kept up to date by Accor. This sort of decor is years old and if I compare to Novotel in Europe, the UK hotels have been left behind. There is a nice bunch of shops near by if you need Sainsbury's, and other food outlets.

We went for a family dinner; the food and service were terrific, especially thank you very much to Muthu, Priyanka, Simran and Vaygan. The chefs were also excellent; thank you to Mico, Boi and Mike.

Everything was great apart from the very loud noise of drilling and banging in my room. I couldn't get the rest I wanted after a long journey which I needed before I went out for the evening. The laissez faire response from the staff was unacceptable. They told me a notice of refurbishment works was advertised on their website. However it's not obvious! You have to open a window which appears amongst lovely advertising photography of the hotel. Even then, when you have read it, it says the works are "external" with no mention of how the works impacts on the rooms. I wasn't offered an alternative room and I would not have chosen to stay here if I was made aware of the deafening sounds of building works.

As you rightly said, this is explained in a message posted in our website stating that structural works in our facade are due to last until November 2024, and furthermore, in the sales T&C and reservation confirmation sent out we have also included the following information, - Hotel in renovation; Structural works on the exterior façade will take place from January 2024 until November 2024. Works are carried out from Monday to Saturday between 09:00 until 17:00. Limited outside view and excessive noise are expected during these working hours. It’s an ok Novotel, standard Novotel rooms. Location seems a bit outside the centre but it actually connects very well with all of London. Paddington is very near and has plenty of tube lines. Grocery store and coffee places very close too. This Novotel tends to be cheaper than the other London ones. My main criticism is that in 2024 it’s almost a crime not to have sockets next to the bed. Back in 2018 I wrote the same thing about this hotel and the hotel actually replied to assure me that sockets were being installed. Not in our room 6 years later.

We are currently undergoing extensive renovations in our hotel with Bar, Restaurant and Lobby areas already completed and works to replacing the entire facade currently being carried out. Disappointing stay

Disappointing. Room potentially very nice but lots of maintenance needed, for example blocked sink, shower fittings falling off. Breakfast very expensive, worked out at £10/slice of toast and chef clearly didn't know how to make toast. External work not an issue
